He went on to serve four years with the 2-87 Infantry out of Fort Drum, deploying in the fall of 2013 to Logar, Afghanistan, as a designated marksman. Together with his wife, he raises four active boys who are heavily involved in local sports, including football, basketball, and baseball.
From Carpentry to Combat

With his wife expecting their first son and job prospects slim, Matt made the brave decision to join the Army. He served for three years, including a tour in Afghanistan, he served with the 101st airborne division as a combat infantryman which he describes as the "best worst time of my life."
In 2014, Matt founded Trimble Construction, focusing on both residential and commercial projects. His second venture, Viking Floor Coatings, launched in January 2024, specializes in using epoxy systems to enhance and protect concrete floors with custom colors.
